Overview

NairaWise V2

Building a smarter way to save, invest, and grow

NairaWise is a personal finance app designed to help people take greater control of their money.

For V2, I expanded the product beyond savings to create a more complete financial experience where users can manage their savings, explore investments, track their net worth, and understand how their money is performing, all from one place.

From Saving to Growing

The first version of NairaWise focused primarily on helping users save toward their financial goals.

For V2, I wanted to take that idea further.

Saving is only one part of building financial security. Once users have money set aside, the next question becomes: what can that money do for me?

This led to the expansion of NairaWise into a combined savings and investment experience.

The new product brings saving and investing together while giving users a clearer picture of their overall financial position.

The V2 Experience

The redesigned experience is built around three core ideas:

Save with purpose. Users can create and manage savings goals, monitor their progress, and build consistent saving habits.

Invest with clarity. Users can explore investment opportunities and put their money to work without having to leave the NairaWise ecosystem.

Understand your money. A centralized financial dashboard brings together net worth, savings progress, investment activity, insights, and recent transactions.

A Financial Home Screen

The dashboard became the central point of the NairaWise experience.

Instead of treating savings and investments as disconnected features, the dashboard gives users a consolidated view of their financial life.

Users can immediately see their total net worth, access key actions such as saving, investing, and withdrawing, view personalized savings insights, monitor active goals, and review recent transactions.

The goal was to make the most important financial information visible without making the interface feel overwhelming.

Designed Around Financial Goals

Savings in NairaWise are organized around specific goals rather than simply showing users a balance.

Whether someone is saving for an apartment, building an emergency fund, or working toward another personal milestone, each goal provides a clear view of progress and contribution activity.

This transforms saving from a passive balance into something users can actively work toward.

Bringing Investments Into the Same Experience

With V2, investments become a first-class part of NairaWise.

Rather than creating a completely separate investment experience, I designed the product so that investing naturally fits alongside existing savings activity.

This creates a more connected financial journey:

Earn → Save → Invest → Grow → Track

The result is a product that can support users beyond their immediate savings goals and into longer-term wealth building.

Making Progress Visible

Financial products can quickly become dense with numbers, percentages, transactions, and unfamiliar terminology.

I focused on presenting financial information progressively, surfacing the information users need most while keeping deeper details available when they need them.

The interface uses cards, progress indicators, performance information, and contextual insights to make financial activity easier to scan and understand.

The Design Direction

For V2, I wanted NairaWise to feel trustworthy and modern without looking like a traditional banking application.

The visual system uses a restrained interface, strong financial hierarchy, generous spacing, and a green-led colour palette that reinforces the product's connection to money and growth.

The design system was also developed to keep the experience consistent across savings, investments, transactions, and the broader financial dashboard.

Outcome

NairaWise V2 evolves from a focused savings product into a broader personal finance experience.

By bringing savings and investments together, the product gives users a clearer path from managing their money today to growing it for tomorrow.

The redesign also gave me an opportunity to explore how complex financial information can be turned into an interface that feels approachable, structured, and easy to navigate.

Problem

NairaWise started as a savings-focused product designed to help users set money aside and work toward personal financial goals.

However, saving is only one part of managing personal finances. Once users have money saved, they also need ways to grow it, understand their financial position, and make informed decisions about where their money should go.

This created an opportunity to evolve NairaWise from a simple savings experience into a more complete personal finance product.

For V2, I expanded NairaWise to combine savings and investments in one experience.

The challenge was to make these two areas feel connected without making the product feel financially complex or overwhelming.

The goal became:

How might we help users move from simply saving money to actively building and growing their wealth?

Research

I began by exploring how digital financial products approach saving, investing, and personal financial management.

I looked at existing fintech experiences to understand common patterns around financial dashboards, savings goals, investment discovery, portfolio tracking, transactions, and financial performance.

I also explored how savings and investments could coexist within the same product without making either experience feel secondary.

A key consideration was the difference between short-term financial goals and long-term wealth building.

Savings are often connected to a specific purpose, such as an emergency fund or a major purchase. Investments are more closely associated with putting money to work over a longer period.

Understanding this distinction helped shape the product architecture and the relationship between the savings and investment experiences.

Insights

Saving needs context

A balance alone doesn't tell users what they're working toward. Giving savings a purpose through goals makes progress easier to understand and gives users a reason to keep contributing.

Saving and investing should feel connected

Users shouldn't have to think of their savings and investments as completely separate financial worlds. Both contribute to their overall financial position, so NairaWise needed to provide a connected view of them.

Financial information needs hierarchy

Financial products can quickly become overloaded with numbers, percentages, transactions, and performance data. The most important information needs to be visible first, with deeper details available when needed.

Progress makes money feel tangible

Progress indicators, goal tracking, performance information, and contextual insights can turn abstract financial numbers into something users can understand and act on.

These insights became the foundation for the V2 product structure and influenced how information was prioritized throughout the experience.

Process

With the direction established, I began restructuring NairaWise around its expanded purpose.

The first step was defining how the major areas of the product should relate to each other.

Rather than designing savings and investments as isolated experiences, I treated them as parts of one broader financial journey.

Information Architecture

The experience was structured around the user's primary financial activities, with the home screen acting as the central financial overview and dedicated spaces for savings and investments.

Dashboard Exploration

The dashboard became one of the most important areas to solve.

I explored how to present net worth, savings and investment actions, financial insights, active goals, and recent transactions without making the experience feel crowded.

The final direction prioritizes the user's overall financial position first, followed by actionable insights and ongoing activity.

Savings Experience

Savings were structured around individual goals rather than presenting them as one generic balance.

This allows users to understand what they are saving for, how much they've accumulated, how much remains, and how their progress is changing.

Investment Experience

Investments were introduced as a natural extension of the existing savings experience.

The goal was to make investing feel like another step in the user's financial journey rather than a completely separate product.

Visual System

As the product expanded, I refined the visual system to maintain consistency across savings, investments, transactions, and the broader financial dashboard.

The interface uses clear hierarchy, structured spacing, rounded cards, and a green-led visual language to create a modern financial experience.

Decisions

Making Net Worth the Dashboard Anchor

I placed Total Net Worth at the top of the dashboard to give users an immediate snapshot of their overall financial position.

Instead of making users calculate their financial picture across different sections, NairaWise brings it together in one place.

Putting Key Actions Beside the Balance

The primary actions, Save, Invest, and Withdraw, are positioned directly within the financial overview.

This creates a shorter path between understanding your money and taking action with it.

Turning Savings Into Goals

Rather than presenting savings as a simple accumulated balance, I used goal-based cards to communicate purpose and progress.

This allows users to quickly understand what they're saving for and how close they are to reaching their target.

Using Insights to Add Context

The dashboard includes financial insights alongside savings goals.

Rather than only showing what has happened, these insights provide additional context around the user's financial activity and progress.

Separating Overview From Depth

The dashboard is designed to answer the user's first question:

"How am I doing financially?"

More detailed information and actions are then available within the dedicated Savings and Invest sections.

This keeps the home experience focused while still supporting more complex financial tasks.

Designing for Both Saving and Investing

The biggest product decision in V2 was expanding beyond savings.

Instead of treating investments as an additional feature, I made them one of the two core pillars of NairaWise.

This shifted the product's purpose from simply helping users save money to helping them manage and grow it.

Final product

NairaWise V2 brings savings and investments together into one personal finance experience.

The redesigned product gives users a centralized view of their financial position while allowing them to take action through saving, investing, and withdrawing.

The home dashboard provides an overview of:

  • Total net worth
  • Financial insights
  • Active savings goals
  • Recent transactions
  • Quick financial actions

The savings experience helps users create purpose-driven goals and track their progress, while the investment experience extends NairaWise into long-term wealth building.

The result is a product that moves beyond the original savings-focused concept and creates a more complete financial journey:

«Save with purpose. Invest with confidence. Grow your wealth.»

NairaWise V2 explores how a financial product can make money management feel clearer, more actionable, and less intimidating, while giving users one place to understand where their money is and where it is going.
